Patio Laying
At DL Maintenance Rugby Builders we have experience of laying all sorts of different patios. We also can extend an existing patio area, add steps, add a pathway and incorporate a brick wall or sleepers.
The Process
- The area is planned and marked
- We clear the area ready for the sub base, removing it to a skip
- Walls are built where necessary, including smaller walls to build up the ground for the slabs to be laid on if the levels aren’t right
- If necessary, drainage channels are laid
- Sub base hardcore is laid to…and then compacted
- A wet mix of sand and cement is mixed read for laying the slabs
- concrete and natural stone slabs are laid on a wet mix
- Porcelain slabs are first coated with a cement slurry, otherwise they will not adhere to the wet mix
- The slabs are laid and left to dry before pointing between the slabs
- pointing is either a stronger wet sand and cement mix or jointing compound
