The customer requested widening the blockpaving on both sides of the drive and front of the bay window and front door, lifting the old “council” type slabs at the side and rear of the house and laying indian sandstone in its place.

The turf was initially lifted at front and rear, the old edgings and slabs lifted and the ground dug down to the requiered lavels;
Sub-base hardcore was then laid and compacted and the blockpaving laid to front of the bay window, in front of the front door and upto the side gate.

The indian sandstone was laid using the 560mm x 560mm slabs on a full bed of a wet sand and cement mix for the main patio area and the larger 845mm x 560mm slabs laid by the side of the house and in front of the conservatory.
A step was then built in front of the patio doors incorporating blue engineering bricks topped with indian sandstone.
Tha joints were then pointed with a stronger mortar mix, then the excess cleaned off to give the final finished look.

The customer required four pillars built all the same height exactly (which would be filled with concrete); in prepartion for a steel girder subframe to be placed upon it; so that a large wooden framed building could be supported as an office.
The job presented many complications in that all materials had to be bought down many flights of steep stairs leading to the rear garden and that all pillars were all at the exact height; which was achieved, for a very satisfied customer

Garden Before and After

We leveled the site removing all the tree roots and filling no less than four skips with waste (if you notice from one of the after photos the wall at bottom of the garden; you will see the stain of where the height of the pile of rubbish and soil used to be)

The garden was then seeded and a new fence was erected in the gap on the right-handside utilising concrete slotted posts, concrete gravel boards and featheredge fence panels)

Patio and Welsh Stone: Hillmorton, Rugby

This was a patio that when the summer monsoon made its usual appearance, made the excavating with the mini-digger a challenge. However all the water problems were overcome (much to the delight of the customer) and the slabs were complemented with a glistening welsh green stone in the center. The front garden was later levelled […]

Old Labourer

This is my dog Sask. She was with me from the age of 7 weeks until she died aged 15 in 2010. She liked to be the foreman on all my jobs and was often watching on from a comfortable spot like this one.
