The original wall was a half brick thick wall with piers which was undermined by trees planted close to the wall causing it to topple over.
The trees were removed and the wall completely taken down to the foundations. The foundations were reinforced and a new one brick thick wall was built in its place using blue engineering in the base, london tudor facing bricks in the main wall and topped with blue engineering bricks.
Whilst the roof was being replaced i was asked to repoint the chimney by grinding out the joints and re-pointing using the weatherpointing or struck method. I also re-haunched (re-applied the mortar to the top of the chimney (see photo) so the rainwater will deflect from the top.
The old steps were crumbling and unsafe. The old damaged steps were removed and new brickwork was laid with slabs laid cut to suit. Before: After:

The customer requested a patio with a step down to a lower patio. This was a challenge due to the materials having to come through the conservatory.
The area was prepared with excess soil removed, a concrete foundation and a dwarf wall comprising of blue engineering bricks built.
Sub-base hardcore was then brought in and compacted and the patio (consisting of indian sandstone slabs) laid on a wet sand and cement mix.
The joints in-between the slabs were then pointed with a stronger mortar mix.
Th finish off an additional step was built by the patio doors.

The driveway originally consisted of old damaged concrete and slabs. This was broken up and removed; the driveway excavated to a depth of 200mm, sub-base hardcore laid and compacted; concrete charcoal blocks were then laid on a stiff concrete mix to form the outer layer then more hardcore was added to bring up the levels and compacted.
Concrete edgings were then laid between the path and the driveway to give a neat finish.
Sharp sand was then added, screeded off and tamped to allow for the brindle concrete blocks to be laid and cut as necessary. The blocks were then compacted before finer block paving sand was added and compacted in-between the block joints.
A further course of charcoal blocks were laid around the garden.
To finish off the tarmac on the road was cut back and new tarmac was laid to give a neat and level finish with the path.

The old slabs were lifted and utilised as hardcore in the new steps; a dwarf wall was built to lift the patio levels to the correct height and hardcore sub-base was brought in and compacted.
The slabs were then laid in a random pattern on a wet sand and cement mix and pointed with a stronger mix.
The steps were then built using matching slabs to top them.Crushed slate was added to the border, the patio was then cleaned and jetwashed to give the finished effect.

As on all upper bathrooms with wooden floors due to movement; which could cause the tiles to crack; plywood should be laid first. In this instance a new product on the market called plastic ply was laid. This is slightly more expensive than wooden ply to lay, but as it is thinner and easier to cut it keeps the finished floor level lower; thus it should be on a level par with carpets in the next room and hopefully prevent you from having to remove the bathroom door to plane the bottom so it can still shut.
The floor was first prepared with tile primer, the plastic ply then stuck to the floor and the tiles laid on a rapid-set floor adhesive cut to suit sround the toilet and sink.
The tiles were then grouted and cleaned to give the finished look.

We completely ripped out the old kitchen units, moved the sink and washing machine supply, pulled up the old lino and levelled the floor. The walls were reskimmed and we retiled the entire floor area before building in the new kitchen.
The kitchen fit required a great deal of patience due to the walls unfortunately not being square, which was nothing to do with the skills of the plasterer, but more so of the original builders not building the house square!
As you can see the kitchen was supplied and fitted to a high specification , and we can arrange a designer to talk through the design you require.

This is a job we did for a customer in Hillmorton, Rugby. They had an old untidy garden wall which needed some work to improve its appearance. They also wanted the step up onto the raised patio to be replaced with two steps to make it safer and the paving slabs jet-washed.
We rendered the wall and added coping stones, built new steps and jet-washed the paving. You can see the results for yourself.
This patio had to be completely lifted, leveled and relaid to the customers specifications around the raised decking veranda. Access to the site was difficult but with hard work and thought this was achieved. The base is compacted sub-base hardcore with the slabs laid on a wet sand and cement mortar mix

We leveled the site removing all the tree roots and filling no less than four skips with waste (if you notice from one of the after photos the wall at bottom of the garden; you will see the stain of where the height of the pile of rubbish and soil used to be)
The garden was then seeded and a new fence was erected in the gap on the right-handside utilising concrete slotted posts, concrete gravel boards and featheredge fence panels)

This proved to be the challenge of the year with a rear garden of a 1st floor flat backing onto a ground floor shop. The slabs had to be lifted, cleaned off and stacked away from area, the ground leveled with all the excess soil placed up on the raised flower bed (then leveled) held back with newly inserted sleepers bolted to the floor.
The materials had to be bought in down a narrow passageway promptly to leave the pathway clear at the front of the shop.
The slabs were re-laid on compacted sub-base and a wet sand and cement mortar base; and the raised flower bed was covered with weed suppressant membrane and covered in 20mm gravel.
The old sewer drain; which had not been correctly sealed in the past; collapsed; but after quick intervention was correctly sealed and made good.

The garden was cleared of undergrowth, levelled and inlaid with compacted sub-base hardcore.
Slabs were laid down to and around the pond on a wet sand and cement mix and a new fence utilising concrete slotted posts, concrete gravel boards and featheredge fence panels was erected.
The sides were then covered with weed suppresant membrane and covered with bark mulch
The side alleygator gate had to be taken down daily for access, but once again any problem or obsticle was overcome
This garden originally had 20mm gravel inlaid. This was removed, topsoil brought in and premium rolawn turf laid to leave a pleasant rear garden
This patio; though straightforward to lay; presented the problem of getting the materials to the site. Once again a solution was found and the customers were highly delighted with the finished work. The slabs were laid on compacted sub-base hardcore and a wet sand and cement mix
This is a newly constructed featheredge fence. It is a hardy construction made out of tannalised timber which will usually outlast most fences, with a pleasant finish to any garden.
This is the standard pinelap fence utilising concrete slotted posts, concrete gravel boards and pinelap fence panels. It is far sturdier than using wooden fenceposts;(which tend after a while to snap, especially if strong crosswinds blow across your garden); and are more cost effective in the long term (you only have to replace the panels […]
